Favorite Anime? Empty Favorite Anime?

Post  raharu Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:48 pm

I posted this on our Facebook group, but there was very little response, so I thought I'd try again.

As the title says, what is your favorite Anime? Why? Give me consise, detailed reasons. You don't have to write an essay, just no "because its cool" kinda stuff.

My all-time favorite anime would have to be "Death Note." I absolutely love the cat-and-mouse game between L and Light. Both have their moments that make you say " Shocked damn, that's smart!" Even after
Spoiler:
, I still love the series.

Try to refrain from having spoilers in your descriptions for those who may have not seen it yet. I added a spoiler tag to your post.

Nice, guys. Though, if you could provide some reasons as to why they are your favorites, that would be great. It's always nice to know why people like what they like, and it may even persuade some to watch the anime.

okie dokie

Why I like Midori No Hibi: Plain and simple. The concept, though strange and may scratch your head at first, but having a girlfriend for a hand concept did work in this anime. Based on the manga, I liked how it was a love story, but also was funny and very thoughtful. There were some episodes that may annoy some like the sister episode but it was very enjoyable and the ending, which I won't spoil, is pretty cool. Smile

Cowboy Bebop: One word: JAZZERIFIC. If there was one cool anime that had a great cast work, jazz music (my fav), and had badass scenes that made the main character look great, look no further than Cowboy Bebop. Once and still on Adult Swim, you get hooked on the characters and the personalities of the crew members, such as Spike (played in English by the great Steven Blum), Edward (played by Invader Zim's Gaz Melisa Fahn), Fay Valentine (played by Wendel Lee who also I believed played the main girl character in Gurren Lagann), and Vicious (played by Skip Stellrecht). This show has drama, comedy, awesomeness, action, excitement, music that is pretty catchy and can be considered one of the best that the composers had to offer, and it each episode had a great storyline. The characters are also a dime a dozen too. This show also got a somewhat decent film that was released in 2003 after it's popularity was released across the USA. So yeah, I would recommend this anime if they want to start off on what anime is about. (Also, you may start liking Jazz music like myself)

Outlaw Star: Does anybody remember this anime? Cause I freakin do. This was also, like Cowboy Bebop, one of my favorite animes that came from the 90s. The show was indeed the bomb when it was shown on Adult Swim (or Toonami by Peter Cullen as in a promo).
Even the anime opening was pretty cool somewhat:

I somewhat remember how the show was pretty cool. Give it a try (I may want to watch it again next to Yu-Yu Hakusho and Tenchi Muyo! again)

FullMetal Panic Fumofu!: I saw some episodes on this, and now I want to watch the entire series since it made me laugh alot. Breaking the fourth wall when done correctly can be absolutely comedy gold, and this show does it where others failed! XD

Inuyasha: What can I say, once I saw this show, and I liked it. I watched the first two seasons (now I have them on DVD from Excalibur), but yeah, this show got me hooked to Canadian voice actors and how a story plot comes together (unlike Naruto). We have Kagome who comes from the present falling down a hole into the past and meets Inuyasha, a demon who defeats evil. They even had David Kaye, who was the voice of Clank in RATCHET AND CLANK! How awesome is that? It gets better, I heard that there was one last film to end the entire trillogy back in 2009. I may want to check it out soon.

Oh, my bad. LOL, well I do have reasons why I like those shows. It's just hard to explain without being vague and/or sounding duh. For example, I don't think it's worth mentioning I like them because they're funny and have plenty of action. There's a lot of animes like that. But yeah...that's my focal point...I like those animes because there's plenty of action and they're funny.

My favorite has got to be, and if you know me you know, Gungrave. It is an amazing storyline that ties in well with the games. The voice acting isn't bad, the animation is very smooth and the action is incredible. It just follows the journey of Brandon Heat as we see what really happened to "Beyond the Grave," or grave for short. You guys should really watch it if you can, tis amazing, to me anyway.

When I was 15 it was Trigun, because I liked the struggles that Vash went through in trying to live his life with the values that he held.
When I was 16 it was Inuyasha because I thought Inuyasha's Ears were hot.
When I was 17 it Was Full Metal Alchemist because of the beautiful animation, the complex storyline and badass action, and the cool concept
of Alchemy which I hadn't seen in anything else.

When I was 18 it was bleach/berserk, because of the amazing action and the sexy guys in stories. There is nothing like huge badass swords and epic battles with them. Plus I love tortured characters and their struggles to succeed.

Today? I don't know. I can't decide anymore. XD You'll just have to refer back to my previous ages for now. I'll have to seriously ponder.

Favorite Anime? Empty Just ONE? Say it ain't so

Post  Deejay Sat Nov 19, 2011 1:50 am

I don't have just one. When I was younger it was Pokemon because it had an RPG game and was very imaginative. I could be whomever I wanted, have whatever team I liked and just day dream about a whole new world to live in.

I also like Inuyasha for that purpose though the slow pace and lack of conclusive ending made me angry and I ended up storming away from the series for a long time.

Currently I would have to say Kino's Journey because its deep, philosophical and morbid. I can have my own ideas about what each world means and each town is about. Very Happy

Right now gotta say Persona 4 The Animation. It sticks close to the game as much as it can in the span of 25 episodes and the Protagonist (whom you name in the game and choose the options you want to make him act the way you want to) has his own name and personality with the little quirks here and there. It's funny to see what they did with him.
